Chicago Bulls vs. Dallas Mavericks
Game 40 | American Airlines Center | 9 January 2022
The Dallas Mavericks host the No. 1 seed in the East, the Chicago Bulls at the American Airlines Center on Sunday night. The Mavericks are riding a five-game win streak which is the longest of the 2021-22 season.
The Mavericks have suffered probably the most out of any team in the NBA when it comes to COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols. This week, Head Coach, Jason Kidd is on the H&S protocol list (being the 12th coach placed on it in a 30 team league) and Assistant Coach, Shaun Sweeney will act as Head Coach.
Sweeney won his first game as acting head coach, Wednesday night in Houston. The Mavericks dominated the Toyota Center and won 130-106.
Luka Dončić will be back in the line up tonight and Kristaps Porziņģis will miss another game due to H&S protocol.
The Dallas Mavericks won their sixth straight game and beat NBA’s best, Chicago Bulls, 113-99. The Dallas Mavericks had several players act as their standout and although two Bulls players scored 20 each (DeMar DeRozan and Zach LeVine), the Bulls couldn’t hold the Mavericks offensive breakaway in the 4th quarter.
NBA All-Star PG, Luka Dončić scored 22 pts, 14 reb and 14th ast. Dončić broke an NBA record with the most triple-doubles (39) in the league by someone twenty-three or younger.
The star of the show however, was PF, Maxi Kleber. Kleber came off the bench, scoring 18 points, going 6-9 from 3. Multiple players carried equal weight throughout the game. Until second half, Tim Hardaway Jr. was the leading scorer for the game.
Considering the trials and tribulations that this team has faced over the last two months, the Mavs are staring to find their rhythm despite the set backs that keep coming their way. A dominate performance from a hungry team, beating the best in the West and the best in the East, in the same week.
